JVC INTRODUCES NEXT GENERATION DVD PLAYER-- XV-D2000BK-
Las Vegas, NV, January 8, 1998... DVD is perfect for a whole range of next-generation multimedia applications. The size of a Compact Disc, a DVD can store extraordinarily large amounts of both visual and sound data. Even an entire movie-all 133 minutes of it-can be contained on a single disc. Dolby Digital 5.1-channel digital surround sound, multi-language capability, multi-aspect ratio function, and many more versatile, interactive functions are supported.
JVC has announced a new DVD player-the XV-D2000BK. It comes complete with a Dolby Digital (AC-3) decoder and six analog outputs to feed into a 6-channel amplifier. There's no need to purchase a separate decoder to enjoy the latest innovation from Dolby Laboratories.
The XV-D2000BK highlights a number of technologies merging JVC's expertise in both audio and video.
The player is compatible with linear PCM audio, combining 24-bit quantization with a 96kHz sampling frequency to deliver the highest sound quality. JVC's 1-bit P.E.M. D.D. Converter in LSI form ensures rich, musical sound with high resolution and low noise. K2 Interface, another JVC exclusive technology, eliminates jitter and ripples, achieving a dramatic reduction in digital distortion. These technologies are responsible for a dynamic range of 108dB, the widest in the industry, says the company.
Picture quality is top class. An exceptionally high horizontal resolution of more than 500 lines (S-Video input) has been achieved by the combination of 10-bit, 27MHz oversampling (video) for anti-aliasing with optimized separate Y/C filters which reduce dot interference and cross color noise.
Separate power supplies minimize interference between the analog and digital circuitry. And to reduce crosstalk between channels, audio and video signals run along totally separate paths. For users that means pure audio and clean video.
The XV-D2000BK has been designed with user-friendliness as a top priority. GUI (Graphical User Interface) allows easy, versatile operation from the remote control. A picture control offers three positions to let you choose the one that better suits the program you're watching. Most of DVD's integral functions-8 languages, multi-angle capability, aspect ratio change, etc.-are also supported.
The XV-D2000BK is conceived to be part of a Home Theater system. So it shares the common looks with JVC's A/V receivers. Its multi-brand remote control comes preprogrammed with control codes for your TV. You can conveniently control both the DVD player and TV from a single remote.
Outputs include not only a 5.1-channel analog output for Dolby Digital but also a stereo analog output and optical/coaxial digital audio outputs. There's an S-Video output for improved picture quality. The XV-D2000BK is of course compatible Video CDs and Music CDs, as well as DVDs.
