JVC MOBILE AUIDO ROCKS PREDATOR CONCEPT SUPERCAR AT CES
Las Vegas, NV, January 8, 1998 JVC is featuring its high-end mobile audio equipment in the Predator, an all-American supercar. Designed and built by M&L Auto Specialists, Inc, of Two Rivers, WI, the Concept car will be on display in JVCÃs booth packed with JVCÃs latest array of mobile audio products.
The custom installation includes JVCÃs KSRT626 In-dash Cassette Receiver specially mounted in the ceiling console above the rear-view mirror.
The KD-MK88, 12-disc Changer is mounted vertically on the left side of the drivers seat. A pair of CS-HS50 5Ü" Separates are mounted in the front door, as well as, a pair of CS-M65 6·" Mid-Bass Speakers. Two KS-AX704 Amplifiers and a CS-F101 Subwoofer are mounted behind the front seats. This incredible sound system makes this Supercar sound as good as it looks.
The Predator is a 200+ mph road car, designed and built using the latest in virtual prototyping computer solutions from such giants as Hewlett Packard EDS/Unigraphics, ICEM Surf, EAI and MacNeal-Schwendler, while retaining the traditional spirit of such exotic automakers as Lamborghini, Ferrari, MacLaren and Porsche.
The Predator embodies the latest in high performance vehicle technology. A carbon composite tub, vacuum bag formed and fitted with hard points, is the main structure element of the car, surrounding the occupants and the cockpit. This tub eliminates the weight of a metal frame structure yet provides superior strength and rigidity. Front and rear crumple zones, isolated from the cockpit tub by bulkheads, provide for a strong measure of safety in the unlikely event of a crash.
The midmounted engine is the 6.8L, 550 horsepower, Ford Triton V10, fitted with a dual Eaton supercharger setup. It is coupled to a 5 speed inverted G50-52 transaxle which channels the power through a double wishbone aerotube independent rear suspension.
The tires are Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, specially designed by Ferrari and Goodyear and speed-rated to over 200 mph. The wheels are aluminum HRE 540 wheels. Brakes are 4 pot Alcon racing calipers. Independent front suspension is an aerotube wishbone configuration.
The PredatorÃs profile is not only seductive, but aerodynamic. Wind tunnel testing found a drag coefficient rating of 0.35, and the car produces nearly 2000lbs of down force at 200 mph ³ more than sufficient to keep the vehicle tight to the ground during high speeds and complex maneuvers. A carbon fiber wing, inline top air scoop, underbody airflow tunnels, and side air scoops all combine to effectively manage the air flow around and through the body.
A stylish carbon fiber interior comfortably seats two side by side. The custom JVC audio system provides music for the road, while 5-point racing-style harnesses provide safety for the 200+ mph ride.
