HIGH QUALITY COLOR PRINTS PRODUCED FROM THE GV-DT1
DIGITAL MULTIMEDIA COLOR PRINTER
Las Vegas, NV, January 8, 1998... JVC is proud to announce the GV-DT1, a digital multimedia printer capable of producing high-quality color prints direct from a variety of sources, including digital video cameras (via DV terminal), compatible digital still cameras (via wireless IrDA* interface), and computers (via a Centronics parallel port). What is more, it can actually capture pictures digitally from DV sources for transfer to a computer without the need for any additional hardware. Dye sublimation technology provides a palette of 16.77 million colors. Also, a new overcoating process furnishes each print with a hard-wearing gloss finish, and an automatic sheet feed handles up to 25 prints.
*IrTran-P compliant
Digital-to-digital transfer and wireless printing
The GV-DT1 can be connected to any digital video camera equipped with a DV (IEEE 1394 based) terminal. Such digital-to-digital transfer ensures there is virtually no degradation in quality.
The printer's infrared interface enables wireless transfer of still image data (in JPEG format) from digital still cameras featuring a compatible IrDA interface.
Capture capability
Those who want to retouch still images from digital video sources can use the DV terminal on the GV-DT1 to capture pictures and transfer them via bidrectional parallel port to a computer*. There is therefore no need to invest in an expensive DV capture board, and captured images can be just as easily transferred to laptop computers. The supplied PhotoSuite? SE software can be used to sharpen or soften images, add special effects and apply templates prior to printing. Alternatively, processed images can be posted on Web pages or sent attached to e-mail.
*Running Microsoftê Windowsê 95 or 3.1
High-quality output
The GV-DT1's own microprocessor automatically adjusts to suit the input signal so that output quality is always optimized. In addition, double-density printing and dye sublimation technology are responsible for the excellent detail and color tones. Each dot is made up of a mixture of the 3 primary colors ¤ yellow, magenta and cyan ¤ in one of 16.77 million possible combinations. The ink sheets are housed in a single cartridge that can be replaced in seconds. One of the unique features of the GV-DT1 is its overcoating process,* which gives each print a tough, glossy finish, helping to protect it from scratch and fingerprint damage. Furthermore, by blocking the ultraviolet light that causes fading, overcoating ensures that the colors stay fresh. Prints can be handed around and displayed just like conventional photographs.
*Requires overcoating paper & cartridge (option)
