Las Vegas, NV (CES, January 7-10, 1999) -- JVC, a leader in the world of DV video cameras, is offering two high-performance DV camcorders to their CyberCam lineup the GR-DVA1 and GR-DVF10. The two state-of-the-art camcorders offer the most advanced imaging and sound technology available in camcorders today, complemented with high-value features such as a powerful 160x Super Digital Zoom and wide selection of digital effects and scene transitions that will impress even the most demanding videographers. Equally amazing is all of this is available in a simple-to-use camcorder that anyone can enjoy.
High Quality Picture with DV Format One of the most impressive aspects about these new camcorders is the picture quality. High resolution pictures are attained through 4:1:1 digital component recording using the DV format (a purely digital format capable of over 500 lines of horizontal resolution). Colors are dazzling since DV provides them with approximately 3 times the bandwidth of conventional video. An image source

that offers this high level of quality is ideal for raw footage and master tapes that can be edited to high-resolution media such as Super VHS video decks, with high quality original recordings translating into high quality copies.
High Quality Sound with PCM Digital Audio The GR-DVA1 and GR-DVF10 offer excellent audio quality as well. A 16-bit PCM digital stereo recording system delivers superb sound that actually exceeds CD quality, and offers a choice of 2-channel (16-bit linear, 48kHz sampling) and 4-channel (12-bit non-linear, 32kHz sampling) recording.
160x Super Digital Zoom with Spline Interpolation The superior picture quality of the DV format makes it ideal for the advanced imaging capabilities made possible by digital technology. So the optical 16x zoom, with its bright F1.6 lens, can be multiplied tenfold using digital processing to deliver awesome 160x digital zoom magnification for extra zooming power on demand. To ensure that the digitally zoomed pictures are smooth and clear, Spline Interpolation technology is used to smooth image contours and minimize jagged edges. Further assurance of stable, high-quality pictures is provided by JVCs exclusive Picture Stabilizer which recognizes the users unique camera-shake characteristics to eliminate shaky pictures more effectively even in long zoom shots.
Digital Effects and Scene Transitions JVC has also provided a wide selection of digital effects and scene transitions that make it much easier for users to add a professional "feel" to their videos.
With creative digital effects such as Black & White, Sepia, Classic Film, Strobe, Cinema, Twilight, Slow Shutter and Hi-Speed Shutter, users can create the visual look they want. By using the many available digital scene transitions, such as Mosaic Fader, Shutter Wipe, Slide Wipe, Door Wipe, Corner Wipe, Window Wipe or Dissolve, users can produce a great-looking video program with a smooth progression. More conventional transitions like White Fader, Black Fader, and Black-and-White Fader are also available.
Additional editing equipment really isn't necessary with these CyberCams since most of the effects and transitions can also be applied during playback or even during Random Assemble Editing, in which up to 8 scenes can be automatically edited from the CyberCam to a connected VCR (optional remote required for GR-DVA1). Snapshot mode lets users freeze a scene and add a white border or drop-shadow to the shot, and offers a choice of 4- and 9-frame modes to place multiple shots on the screen together, while the Motor Drive function allows serial snapshots to be shot in rapid succession.
Variety of Convenience Features The GR-DVF10 comes with a built-in 2.5-inch high-resolution TFT LCD monitor that can be tilted to allow high-angle overhead shooting in crowds, low-angle shots, and self-portraits when pointed forward. The unit also comes with a built-in speaker, making it easy for users to play back and enjoy their videos wherever they are. The GR-DVA1 is equipped with a high-resolution color viewfinder whose high-density color LCD delivers clear, natural looking images and makes it easier to identify subjects in busy surroundings. Both models also come with a Built-in Auto Light that automatically turns on or off depending on how brigh the surrounding light is, assuring brilliant, clear shots even in dark environments. To allow extended shooting so that the user wont miss a crucial shot just because the battery ran out, JVC will be offering the VU-V856 High Capacity Battery Kit (7-hour battery life) as an option for both models. In addition, the GR-DVF10 will also come provided with a high-performance nickel metal-hydride rechargeable battery (2-hour battery life).
As one of the world's leading video innovators and the developer of the world's very first VHS camcorder, JVC has gained a worldwide reputation for its ability to bring the latest high-quality technology to consumers in an easy-to-use, affordable format and these two latest digital camcorders represent the newest chapter in JVC's story of friendly innovation.
