JVCs exciting 1999 fall promotion is being launched with a premiere screening of Under the Covers on September 16, 1999 in Burbank, California.
Under the Covers is a unique scrapbook of never-before-seen interviews and footage of legendary artists such as The Doors; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; Jackson Browne; Mama Cass; Steppenwolf; Eagles; Jimmy Webb; David Cassidy; and America. These rare interviews come from the private collection of industry insiders Gary Burden, the artist whose work graced the covers of many of these famous rock-n-roll albums and Henry Diltz, friend and photographer to the stars.
Nearly thirty years later, Burden and Diltz give us an intoxicating look back at these American music heros, their timeless talent and behind-the-scenes maneuvers and hijinks. Filmed by Bill Day and Terry Schwartz and produced by Peter Blachley, Under The Covers is a rare find for all music lovers and available only to JVC customers.
"This is the most exciting DVD offer in the industry, " says Kevin Gordon, Manager of Corporate Advertising and Promotions, JVC Company of America. "To follow the great success we had last year with our DVD promotion, we have decided to offer our customers unique content, not available elsewhere.
While most of our competitors have chosen a mail-in redemption of off-the-shelf movie titles, JVC has opted for titles such as Under the Covers, Baraka and a special $10 offer on Austin Powers, The Spy Who Shagged Me, bundled right in the box." Customers simply purchase any JVC DVD Player or Changer at any of the 1,200 participating JVC retailers.
Special in-store displays, as well as national print advertising will support the promotion. In addition, this unique DVD promotion will be featured on radio stations in top retail markets. JVCs collection of DVD Players include the flagship XV-D701K, featuring a Dolby Digital decoder and 5.1-channel analog outputs, available for $499.95 and the XV-D511BK, available for $449.95.
Both offer JVCs exclusive VFP (Very Fine Processor) technology for user-adaptable picture enhancement, 10-bit/27Mhz video D/A converter to eliminate noise and exceptionally wide dynamic range of 108dB. JVCs XV-M555BK 3-Disc DVD & CD Changer converges audio and video entertainment with state-of-the-art DVD technology.
Play and exchange is made simple with a 3-disc changer affordable at $449.00. Impressive video starts with a 10-bit/27Mhz D/A converter, and viewing is even more enjoyable while you play with multiple functions like variable search, variable slow, resume, digest, strobe and zoom (4x).
The audio side is equally astounding, with 24-bit/96 kHz audio D/A converter and 108dB Dynamic Range. Digital Out for AC3 and DTS expands your options.
