JVC COMPANY OF AMERICA
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Las Vegas, NV (CES, January 7 , 1999)
Las Vegas, (CES, January 7-10, 1999) -- JVC introduces the home theater ready XV-DX1BK DVD Video player with a built-in Dolby Digital decoder, 5.1-channel analog output and DIVX decoder/modem. No additional decoder is required.
The XV-DX1BK is JVC's first player with the DIVX feature. DIVX is a pay-as-you-go version of the DVD format introduced recently offering consumers another choice in video entertainment.
Thanks to the 96kHz P.E.M. D.D. Converter, the XV-DX1BK delivers high-quality sound with an extra-wide 106dB dynamic range. The high-bit/high-sampling (10-bit/27MHz) video D/A converter allows a high-quality picture by compensating for signal loss and removing digital aliasing noise.
Separate circuit construction improves both audio and video performance. Because the power supply, digital circuitry, analog audio and analog video circuits are all physically separated, interference is drastically cut, and degradation minimized.
GUI (Graphical User Interface) allows easy operation through on-screen menus. The "Illumi-Guide" feature illuminates correct keys to guide the user through various operations. The "Digest" function displays on-screen a grid of 3 x 3 scenes, the first scene of a title or chapter, for direct access at the touch of a button.
Extras include component output (PR, PB and Y), S-video output, 3D-PHONIC virtual surround for realistic presence from two speakers up front, DTS Digital Out, Multi-Brand remote control with joystick, English/French/Spanish OSD, a coordinated home theater look and AV COMPU LINK for coordinated operation with JVC TVs and receivers. The XV-DX1BK will be available in May at a nationally advertised price of $699.95.
