JVC INTRODUCES THE RX-1028VBK AUDO/VIDEO CONTROL RECEIVER WITH MULTI-ROOM/MULTI-SOURCE CAPABILITY

Las Vegas, NV (January 7-10, 1999) -- JVC unveils a new flagship receiver, the RX-1028VBK, with built-in Dolby Digital and DTS recording. Tested under all conditions, the fully discrete BOWX2 (100X5) amplifier section is FTC rated into 8 ohms or 4 ohms. The amplifier is JVC's top-of-the-line Advanced Super A design which eliminates the crossover and switching distortion normally associated with high-efficiency Class AB amplifiers, resulting in smooth sound reproduction that is practically free of distortion.

In addition to the 8 gold-plated inputs (5 video and 3 audio), there is one coaxial and 3 optical digital inputs. With all of the digital sources available today (DBS, CD, MD, DVD, etc.) JVC has wisely developed these digital inputs to be assignable to whatever source the customer may have. These digital inputs then feed JVC's legendary K2 interface. This patented technology is based on the principle that digital information is not pure and absolute as widely perceived, but is in fact very susceptible to jitter and distortion. The K2 interface completely re-creates the incoming digital signal before it is converted by the D/A converter. This new "exact" copy allows the D/A converter to create a more expansive and resolute soundstage on all 6 channels: front right, center and left; rear left and right; and one subwoofer.

This soundstage features a multi-room/multi-source capability. Two people can enjoy different audio programs in two different rooms (a Main and a Sub room). So one person can watch a video in the den while the other listens to a CD upstairs or in the garage. This feature supplies sound to the Sub room when you enjoy 2-channel stereo in the Main Room (when the surround amplifiers are idle). Or if you prefer to keep surround sound, you can still have multi-room/multi-source capability by installing an outboard amp in the Sub room and connecting it through Sub Pre Out terminals. You can also listen to your TV through your sound system with TV Auto On, which works with any brand TV. Or listen to video via "One Touch Operation" with AV Compulink, which works with all JVC A/V Compulink products. The full-function RF/IR remote control unit means you can do it all without having to run additional wires other than speaker wire to the sub room.

On the ease-of-use front, the RX-1028VBK incorporates JVC's proprietary TEXT COMPU LINK technology. With TEXT COMPU LINK, CD TEXT or programmed title information derived from JVC's new XL-MC334BK 200 CD mega-changer, for example, is transferred to the receiver's fluorescent display and consequently, the built-in multi-color OSD. This allows the customer to see their title information even if the CD changer is hidden out of view. They can also select and categorize their titles, by name, from the comfort of their easy chair using the OSD in conjunction with the remote.

Rounding out the RX-1028VBK feature content: All 5 video inputs include S-jacks, all speaker outputs are banana-type with 5-way binding posts for added integrity, and the "one touch" Home Theater automation system, AV COMPU LINK, is included.

The RX-1028VBK will be available in June for a nationally advertised value of $900.

In addition, another valuable but slightly less feature-rich model, the RV-888VBK maintains the FTC rating at 120 Watts, includes the same feature packages without TV auto on or multi-room/multi-source, has two optical inputs and reduces Advanced Super A to Dynamic Super A. The RV-888VBK will be available in June for a nationally advertised value of $550.
