JVC INTRODUCES ELKAMELEON INNOVATIVE ANTI-THEFT RECEIVERS KD-LX1 AND KD-LX3

Las Vegas, NV, (CES, January 7-10, 1999) -- JVC Company of America's Mobile Entertainment Division has set a new standard in anti-theft technology with the roll-out of the ELKAMELEON in-dash, changer control CD receivers. Utilizing patented JVC technology, the KD-LX1 and KD-LX3 CD receivers are specially designed to create a first line of defense against theft.

ELKAMELEON Anti-Theft System
Today, most car audio anti-theft systems feature a detachable control panel that disables the unit, rendering it useless to thieves. Effective as this, it is not particularly convenient. JVC's innovative new ELKAMELEON anti-theft system is simple and hassle-free. Instead of having a detachable front panel, ELKAMELEON actually disguises it, retracting the controls and switching off the LCD so that the receiver's face appears completely flat and blank. Since it blends in with the console, it is almost impossible to tell that something is there. Best of all, there are no special settings or controls. All the driver has to do is turn off the ignition. And as soon as the car is started up again, the receiver will return to normal.

BBE High-Definition Sound
With powerful sound output of 40 W x 4, drivers will want to ensure that audio distortion is minimized. Now available on JVC CD Receivers, this exclusive system corrects phase delay and distortion to ensure that the output sound is as true to the original recording as possible. High frequencies are clearer, vocals are crisper, and low-frequency sound is tight and well-defined.

Multi-Color LCD
This large, attractive, easy-to-see display makes it easy for the driver to check receiver functions and status at a glance. Features of this display include a new CFL backlight that's twice as bright as a conventional display and generates less heat, reducing power consumption and assuring a longer service life. The KD-LX3 also features a convenient Contrast Control function that lets you improve visibility by adjusting the contrast level to that most suitable for the driver's position. Both models also come with an automatic dimmer that reduces nighttime glare.

CD Text Capability
It can be difficult to keep track of discs when you're using a CD Changer. Thanks to their CD Text capability, these receivers are able to display information from discs with CD Text such as the title of the disc and the name of the artist you're listening to on the display. CD text information can be displayed whether the CD is in the CH-X1200 CD changer or in the receiver itself.

Audio Cruise Mode
This feature is another example of the safety and convenience built into JVC Car audio systems. To accommodate changes in your vehicle's speed and offset engine, wind and road noise, this exclusive JVC anti-noise acoustic control system automatically adjusts volume levels while you drive.

CD Changer Control
Both models also come with a full set of CD changer control functions, including Direct Disc Select and two-mode Repeat/Random to provide complete control over a connected JVC 12-CD changer. New JVC changers such as the CH-X200 CD changer can easily be connected to the KD-LX1/3 using JVC's exclusive J-Link connection which combines power and signal cables into a single, easy-to-connect cable. Also provided are convenient features like Beep Tone Support, which makes operation easier and safer because the unit beeps to confirm operations. The top-of-the-line KD-LX3 also comes with a card-type wireless remote control so you can safely and accurately control various functions without even having to look at or touch the display. With the KD-LX3, you'll also have the flexibility to configure an unbeatable audio system with multiple additional amplifiers and source components. Two pairs of gold-plated line out terminals, subwoofer output terminals with level control, a 4V line output level, and even a pair of line input terminals are all provided on this high-performance model.

Availability
ELKAMELEON CD receivers are making their debut at CES 1999, and will be available in April of 1999. Nationally advertised prices are $329.00 for the KD-LX1 and $379.00 for the KD-LX3.
