JVCÌs STEREO CASSETTE DECKS DELIVER THE BEST ANALOG SOUND WITH SUCH FEATURES AS "COMPU CALIBRATION"

-- New Cosmetics Also Available --

Orlando, FL, April 13, 1997...JVC remains a major force in stereo cassette decks as evidenced by the new feature-laden TD-W354BK and TD-254BK. Both are sure to appeal to the millions of tape afficionados who make analog recordings of digital programs and also want the best performance from pre-recorded tapes. Both models also sport upgraded cosmetics.

Central to JVCÌs new TD-W354BK stereo cassette deck is "Compu Calibration." In order to enjoy the highest performance from a tape, the deckÌs recording parameters must be optimized (or calibrated) to that tape. The one-touch computer controlled record "Compu Calibration" feature delivers this in state-of-the-art fashion. With normal and chrome tapes, bias is adjusted in fine steps to ensure flat response and low distortion; with metal tape, equalization is adjusted instead for high-frequency response. A high calibration frequency is used for higher accuracy. Sensitivity is also adjusted to make the tape -- normal, chrome or metal -- sound natural when Dolby noise reduction is used. The TD-W354BK keeps in memory the last calibrated parameters for all three popular tape types and for each of the double cassettes.

The deck also includes reduced acoustic modulation noise -- cassette shell stabilizers and large insulators; Multi Music Scan; and two features that are rare on comparable models. One is a pitch control to adjust the pitch of music, and the other is a mic input with level control for making live recordings (microphone optional).

Both units feature twin auto-reverse transports -- both transports record and play in both directions, as well as Full-logic control and silent mechanisms. Additions features for both units include: Silent mechanisms driven by exclusive motor actuators; DDRP (Dynamic Detection Recording Processor); Continuous play of two tapes; High speed editing with synchro dubbing; Dolby HX Pro (Deck B); Dolby B/C noise reduction; Fluorescent level meters/counters; Auto/synchro record mute; Auto tape selector (Normal/CrO2/Metal); Pitch Control (Deck A); Mic input with level control; Multi Music Scan; Headphone output; and Enhanced Compu Link Control System.

The TD-W354BK will be available in April and will carry a national ad value of $220. The TD-W254BK will also be available in April and will carry a national ad value of $190.
