JVC's GR-DVM1 -- A NEW FEATURE-LADEN COMPACT DIGITAL VIDEO CAMERA WITH LCD COLOR MONITOR -- IS "CAST" IN DIRECTOR STEVEN SPIELBERG'S "THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK" OPENING MEMORIAL DAY, 1997


Las Vegas, NV, January 9, 1997....JVC's GR-DVM1 compact digital video camera with LCD color monitor will be seen by millions of movie-goers next summer in Universal Picture's and Amblin Entertainment's "The Lost World: Jurassic Park."

In "The Lost World: Jurassic Park," JVC's GR-DVM1 will be used prominently by one of the principal characters. The film, scheduled for a Memorial Day, 1997 release, is the highly anticipated sequel to "Jurassic Park," which was the highest-grossing film of all time with a worldwide box office take of more than $900 million.

Directed by Steven Spielberg and based on the best-selling novel by Michael Crichton, "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" is produced by Gerald R. Molen and Colin Wilson. Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy are executive producers. David Koepp, who co-wrote the screenplay for "Jurassic Park," also wrote the screenplay for the sequel.

In "The Lost World: Jurassic Park," Jeff Goldblum will return in his role as Ian Malcolm, the "chaos theory" mathematician, while Richard Attenborough will return in a special appearance as the ambitious entrepreneur John Hammond. "We are thrilled that JVC's new digital camcorder will be included in the film," said Akira Ochida, President of U.S. JVC Corp. "The product placement will certainly add increased awareness and heighten the marketablility of the GR-DVM1."

JVC's GR-DVM1 is the second model in JVC's lineup of compact digital video cameras. The previously introduced GR-DV1 is the world's smallest and lightest digital camcorder.

Among principal features of the new GR-DVM1: High resolution LCD color monitor which enables clear viewing of indoor and outdoor subjects due to the industry's first polycrystalline-silicon TFT LCD color monitor. (Highly-reliable, ultra-compact and light-weight body first cultivated by the preceding model GR-DV1.) Creative functions during playback such as "pinpoint digital zoom;" "snapshot mode;" 12 digital effects; 18 scene transitions; and random assemble editing. (Linkage to a personal computer via JVC's JLIP protocol.) The new unit builds on the recently created digital video (DV) format which features high picture quality, miniaturization, multi-functionality, and systematization. Clear monitoring and "worry free" shooting is now available to consumers with both the GR-DV1 and the GR-DVM1.

The GR-DVM1 will be available in March and will have a Nationally Advertised Value of $2799.95.
