JVC INTRODUCES DVD PLAYER -- XV-1000BK --
FOR THE NEW AGE OF VIDEO
Orlando, FL, April 13, 1997...JVC is introducing a DVD player, model XV-1000BK, capable of playing the new generation of multimedia discs -- DVD Home Video discs, Video CD and Music CD. It represents JVCÌs unmatched expertise in both audio and video for the best of both worlds.
The XV-1000BK is compatible with linear PCM audio, combining 24-bit quantization with a 96kHz sampling frequency to deliver the highest sound quality. JVCÌs 1-bit P.E.M. D.D. Converter in LSI form ensures rich, musical sound with high resolution and low noise. K2 Interface, another JVC exclusive technology, eliminates jitter and ripples, achieving a dramatic reduction in digital distortion. These technologies are responsible for a dynamic range of 108dB, the widest in the industry, and three times greater than that of the CD.
Dolby Digital (AC-3), multi-language, multi aspect ratio, and many more versatile, interactive functions are supported by the XV-1000BK. The unitÌs digital video capability also showcases high quality pictures; digital audio makes for a pure, dynamic sound; the unit can become part of JVCÌs Home Theater family with coordinated looks; and a graphical user interface makes for simple on-screen operation.
Picture quality is superb. An exceptionally high horizontal resolution of more than 500 lines (S-Video output) has been achieved by the combination of 9-bit, 27MHz oversampling (video) with optimized separate Y/C filters which reduce dot interference and cross-color noise.
Separate power supplies minimize interference between the analog and digital circuitry. And to reduce crosstalk between channels, audio and video signals run along totally separate paths. For users that means pure audio and clean video.
The XV-1000BK has been designed with user-friendliness as a top priority. GUI (Graphical User Interface) allows easy, versatile operation from the remote control. A picture control offers SHARP and SOFT positions to let you choose the one that better suits the program youÌre watching. Most of DVDÌs integral functions--8 languages, multi-angle capability, aspect ratio change, etc.--are also supported.
This JVC DVD player incorporates an optical digital audio output (2/5.1 channels) and an analog audio output, in addition to a composite video output and an S-Video output. ItÌs fully compatible with not only DVDs but also Video CDs and Music CDs.
The XV-1000BK is designed to be part of a Home Theater system. So it shares the common looks with JVCÌs A/V receivers and also comes with the AV COMPU LINK Remote Control System. With AV COMPU LINK, when the user loads a disc into the player and presses the PLAY button, the JVC receiver and TV, as well as the player itself, are automatically turned on, the input is set for DVD on the receiver, and play begins, all automatically
DVD discs are the same size (5-in.) as audio compact discs but are capable of storing massive amounts of both visual and sound data. Even an entire movie -- 133 minutes worth -- can be contained on a single disc. Many of the major motion picture companies have already begun marketing movies on DVD to consumers at affordable prices.
The JVC XV-1000BK DVD player will be available in June and will have a national ad value of $899.95.
