NEW AMP, CROSSOVER AND MID BASS LOUDSPEAKER ENTRY PUTS MORE POWER INTO JVCÌs HIGH-END POWER DIGIFINE LINE

Las Vegas, NV, January 9, 1997...JVC is boosting its Power Digifine Mobile Audio lineup with a new power amplifier, crossover unit, and a loudspeaker entry -- models KS-AX902, KS-N60, and CS-M65 respectively.

The POWER DIGIFINE line, launched in Spring of 1996, is JVCÌs high-end component series of mobile audio receivers, amps, CD changers and speakers developed for car sound aficionados.

According to Tom Caronia, Vice President, JVC Mobile Electronics Division: We are filling out some of the missing slots for Power Digifine components by adding the amp, the crossover and mid-bass woofers. Power Digifine components were very well received during the past year. We also intend to place a big emphasis in this category with a major national media promotion beginning in March. Increasingly, we think upper end system customers for the car will be thinking JVC and Power Digifine.

The new KS-AX902 bridgeable 2-channel power amp provides RMS power of 150 watts per channel at no more than 0.08% THD and a maximum power output of 600 watts. The KS-AX902 also has a variable high (12 dB/per octave) and low (24 dB/per octave) pass crossover from 50-200 Hz. The unit also has a variable bass boost up to 12 dB at 45 Hz. The KS-AX902 is an ideal power amp to run sub-woofers and makes the entire Power Digifine amplifier line very well-rounded.

JVCÌs new crossover network unit is the KS-N60, meant to be part of the Power Digifine layout. ItÌs a 6-channel input/12 channel output unit, which will allow customers to tweak or control an entire system -- from front speakers, to mid-bass drivers, to sub-woofers -- all from one unit.

JVCÌs new Power Digifine loudspeaker entry is the CS-M65 -- 6 1/2-inch mid-bass drivers, another first, which rounds out a line already consisting of 2-way separate speakers and sub-woofers.

Each of the new units will be available in May. The KS-AX902 amp will have a national ad value of $529.95. The new KS-N60 crossover will have a national ad value of $349.95. The new CS-M65 mid-bass driver will be nationally advertised for $119.95.

JVCÌs new KS-AX902 Power Digifine amplifier complements three existing Power Digifine amplifiers -- the KS-AX704, the KS-AX504, and the KS-AX302. First available during the Spring of 1996, each of those amps continue to offer new power for mobile electronics devotees and feature ultra-high power output, a bridgeable design and increased stability. Each also includes the Smart Amp System -- providing steadier amplification, even into a load impedance of 2 ohms. Hidden connections and easy access to gain controls are also designed for effortless and handsome installation.

The KS-AX704 bridgeable 4-channel power amp provides RMS power of 60 watts per channel at no more than 0.05% THD, (4 ohms, 10-50,000 Hz) and a maximum power output of 480 watts. The KS-AX504 bridgeable 4-channel amp offers RMS power of 40 watts per channel (4 ohms, 10-50,000 Hz) and 320 watts of maximum power output. Both the KS-AX704 and KS-AX504 have variable high (12 dB/per octave) and low (18 dB/per octave) and pass crossover from 50-200 Hz for the front and rear channels. Each also has a variable bass boost up to 12 dB at 45 Hz. The KS-AX302 is a powerful bridgeable stereo amplifier with RMS power of 40 watts per channel and maximum output of 60 watts with built-in high and low crossover and variable bass boost.

JVCÌs Digifine amplifiers utilize MOS-FET (Metal-Oxide Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor) technology which converts DC-DC power and provides multi-phase connection capability. The MOS-FET high speed DC-DC converter effectively reduces the conversion loss, resulting in excellent stability in theÌ power supply. Each unit is equipped with Discrete output, Gold-plated RCA inputs, power inputs, speaker output terminals, and regulated power supply. Plus an optional tri-way output for added convenience. At the same time, once JVCÌs Digifine amplifier is installed, connection cables and connectors are not visible.

The CS-M65 complements a speaker line which offers the truest possible reproduction of sound, from rich, full lows to crystal clear highs. The Digifine Speaker line features three speaker separates; the CS-HS40 which consists of a four-inch midrange and a 9/16-inch Soft Dome Tweeter; the CS-HS50 which is a 5 1/4-inch midrange and 9/16-inch Soft Dome Tweeter, and the CS-HS60 with a 6 1/2-inch midrange and 9/16-inch Soft Dome Tweeter. There are also two subwoofers -- the CS-F101 and CS-F121, 10- and 12-inch woofers.

All of the Digifine separates utilize Hyper Neo Olefin cones made of microscopic flakes of fine ceramic and olefin copolymer. This material greatly improves resistance to water, high temperatures and direct sunlight and provides excellent sound quality. In high humidity ceramic olefin cone material never absorbs water, even if completely immersed in water. The speakers are specifically designed for powerful performance in all weather conditions of the automotive environment.

Unlike conventional subwoofers, the CS-F101 and CS-F121 subwoofers feature symmetrically-mounted Double Dampers made from a special material called Comex. The symmetrical dual-layer structure effectively cancels distortion while the cone diaphragm (voice coil) is effectively suppressed, even when excessive power is input to the speaker.
