Las Vegas, NV, January 9, 1997...JVC has developed an instant Home Theater sound system designed to create surround sound from only two front speakers. The purpose of JVCÌs 3D-PHONIC technology is to produce a Dolby Pro LogicTM surround sound environment, solely from front left and right speakers, by using proprietary sound image localization filters. 3D-PHONIC eliminates the need to purchase a separate receiver (processor/amplifier), and hook up rear and center speakers. Simply plug the system directly into your TV or VCR and enjoy.

JVC achieves this by building the amplifier and 3D-PHONIC processor into one of the speakers. The processor section consists of two processors: a standard Dolby Pro LogicTM IC, and JVCÌs proprietary 3D-PHONIC processor. First, the incoming audio signal is processed by the Dolby Pro Logic IC. Then the 3D-PHONIC processor adds sound localization cues to the surround channel. This surround signal, with the localization cues, is then added to the front left and right speakers. This enables the front speakers to make sounds appear to come from the back of the room.

This advanced technology is available in two different configurations: The SX-PRO3 system consists of a single pair of tower speakers utilizing a 3-way enclosure. Each magnetically shielded speaker consists of a ported subwoofer to reproduce bass down to 33Hz, a 5 cone woofer and a 1 dome tweeter. The amplifier section of the SX-PRO3 (located in one of the speakers) has an output of 25 watts x 4 into 6 ohms (Left, Right, Subwoofer x 2).

The SX-ST1 is configured as a satellite/subwoofer system. Each of the shielded, wall-mountable satellites incorporates a 4 full-range driver in a bass-reflex enclosure. The SX-ST1 power output is 25 x 2 (Left , Right) and 30 watts for the Subwoofer, into 6 ohms.

Each system provides two audio inputs; three 3D-PHONIC modes (Action, Drama, Theater): 3 DAP modes (Jazz Club, Symphony, News); electronic volume; line-level center and rear channel outputs for possible 5 channel expansion. Additionally, both models are equipped with A/V integrated remote controls that allow remote operation of the speaker system as well as most JVC TVs and VCRs.
