All About A/V Receivers

What's the difference in COMPU LINK and A/V COMPU LINK?

COMPU LINK refers specifically to audio components, for example, cassette decks or CD players. A/V COMPU LINK refers to VCR, TV and some receivers. A receiver may be COMPU LINK but not A/V COMPU LINK. The feature difference? Each flavor of COMPU LINK allows components to "talk" to each other with easy operation from the remote control. However, with A/V COMPU LINK the user can also control video components as well. In addition, a user can "turn-on" their entire Home Theater System by simply pushing a prerecorded videotape into their VCR.

When I use A/V COMPU LINK, why does my TV always pick video input 2?

The TV has an S-Video input on input 1. The receiver you are using has no S-Video Jacks. The receiver communicates this to the TV, which picks input 2. It does this because a S-VHS VCR or laser disc player may be connected to input one. Therefore, simply connect your video source to input 2.

I get a big black square box covering 90% of my picture.

This is not channel guard or a malfunction. This is a function of the closed caption circuit available for future use called text mode. Simply press close the caption button on the TV remote until the square disappears.

I cannot get Surround Sound.

Surround sound requires a stereo source. A VCR cannot transmit stereo via channel 3 or 4 to a Television. It can only transmit stereo through the left and right audio inputs of the VCR. These may be connected directly to a surround sound receiver or to a television with audio/video inputs and outputs. When connecting to the Television audio and video inputs, make sure to connect the TV's audio input to the audio out on the Receiver. Also with this connections remember to put TV in video mode, not on channel 3 or 4.

A/V Receiver Technology

COMPU LINK
The creation of the COMPU LINK system came about out of the previously unanswered call to simplify the often tedious process of preparing an audio/video system to play a video tape or an audio CD. COMPU LINK utilizes intuitive technology to allow an effective line of communication to exist between your various components. This drastically reduces the amount of time it takes to adjust settings, thereby allowing you to sit back and enjoy your entertainment without the unnecessary burden of technical fumbling.

A/V COMPU LINK
The A/V COMPU LINK takes the next step in making JVC entertainment a one step process. With the simple insertion of a video tape, audio CD, or cassette into a COMPU LINK component, a series of automated events is undertaken, resulting in the activation of the complementing JVC
COMPU LINK products.

  ENHANCED COMPU LINK CONTROL SYSTEM
The Enhanced COMPU LINK Control System lets JVC receivers and other JVC audio components work together even more seamlessly. For instance, when you touch the PLAY button on a JVC CD player or cassette deck (or on the remote control), the source and the receiver are automatically turned on, the input is set for the chosen source on the receiver, and play begins.

TEXT COMPU LINK
The more audio/video components you own, the more difficult it is to take advantage of their functions. To resolve this problem, JVC first developed COMPU LINK and later AV COMPU LINK. TEXT COMPU LINK is the third step in this progress. The system is fully compatible with text data carried by new media like MD and CD-TEXT CD, and transmits the data from component to component. TEXT COMPU LINK is an integrator that ties together JVC receivers with JVC CD changers, MD recorders, and your TV, so that you can enjoy music the easy way. In a nutshell, you choose the track you want to play from a list on the TV screen. You can even give tracks you own titles and search by performer, title, or genre. JVC TEXT COMPU LINK shows text data (performer name, disc title, and genre) of CD-Text CDs on the receiver's display and also on the screen of your TV. Together with the XU-301BK MD-CD combination deck, XL-MC334BK 200-mega changer or XM-448BK MD recorder, JVC receivers offer you tremendous convenience.

  A/V Remote Control
The remote control for our receivers operates not only the unit itself, but also JVC CD players, DVD players, Cassette decks, and JVC video equipment. With all JVC receivers except for the RX-558VBK, a multi-brand remote is standard: you can recall preprogrammed codes to control video equipment from other makers at a touch. The JVC remote even controls the basic functions of you cable box and DBS system.
K2 Interface
The K2 Interface produces low distortion and natural sound fields from stereo and 5.1-channel sources.
DOLBY PRO LOGIC SURROUND produces the same multi-directional sound that you experience when in a movie theater. JVC receivers equipped with this feature produce a dynamic range of amazing three-dimensional sounds.
BACK-LIT ILLUMINATED multi-brand A/V-CATV remote with mega CD control. Back-lit buttons for easy operation in low light or for operators with poor eyesight.

3-D PHONIC
It takes just two front speakers to enjoy 3-dimensional surround sound with 3D-Phonic from JVC, a radically new approach to home theater sound. Dialog is fixed on the Tv screen as a virtual sound source, while the surround components are synthesized by a sophisticated digital signal processor, mixed with the front signals, and played back by the two front speakers.
