INTRODUCING JVC'S SMALL AND LIGHTWEIGHT PORTABLE MD PLAYERS WITH SHOCK PROTECTION

Las Vegas, NV (CES, January 7-10, 1999) JVC is leading the way at CES 1999 with the launch of three personal MD's which are engineered to look cool and think smart. Conveniently small, packed with power, and styled to say ÏWow!Ó, these palm-sized portable XM-PJ1, XM-P55 and XM-R70 player/recorders snap onto a belt buckle or slip into a purse, for pure sound enjoyment anywhere you go.

Smart 40-Second Shock Protection Gives JVC an Edge
JVC stands out from the crowd by building 40-second Shock Protection into its new line of portable MDs, quadrupling the industry standard of just 8-seconds of protection. Music junkies wonÌt miss a beat or listen to jagged sounds if they encounter a disturbance along the way because JVCÌs MD portables, playing from memory, will have 40 seconds to catch up again.

Top-Of-The-Line Gives Long-Lasting Sounds
JVCÌs super-slim XM-R70 portable MD recorder heads up the pack with style and convenience. This artful portable is engineered to miraculously feature both record and playback. A sampling rate converter allows flexible recording from MDs (32kHz), CDÌs (44.1 kHz), or DAT (48kHZ).

A 2 line10-character display shows information about the disc or tune you entered while recording, like the title and the artist. The remote control features a 10-character back-illuminated blue LCD panel for display and a jog (dial) control for easy use. Fancy 5 mode edit functions (Join, Divide, Move, Erase, Title) ensure expert-sounding recording.

Long-lasting sounds are a sure thing with the XM-R70 player/recorder.
It features a minimum 5-hour record time and playback from this unit is between 20-30 hours. Comfortable, travel-friendly fully banded folding headphones are compact-sized to ensure quality listening and portability.

Radical Push & Eject Technology
Makes Changing MDs A Snap Unique to the XM-PJ1 model, JVC presents its solution to retrieving MD's from portable players without losing its compact 3-1/4" x 11/16" x 4-1/16" size (84.4 x 16.6 x 80.1 mm) and weight (4.2 oz/120g or 5.1oz/145g with rechargeable battery). JVC has created a unique Push and Eject mechanism that quickly pops the MD up for easy retrieval. One-finger locking promises MDs will stay in place.

Sixteen (16)-hour playback via a "gumstick" size rechargeable and alkaline battery housed inside the unit ensures long periods of listening pleasure with only a short time (1.5 hours) required for recharging. Folding headphones make portability a pleasure.

Portable XM-P55 MD Player is Jacket-Sized
We call this artful portable, which is just a hair bigger than an MD case, jacket-sized.The smallest (3-3/8"x11/16"x3-3/16" or 84.4x16.6x80.1mm) and most lightweight (3.6oz/103 g or 4.5oz/128g with rechargeable battery) of JVC's portable MD players, the ultra-slim jacket-sized XM-P55 is chock-full of features too. It also has 40-second shock protection, comes with rechargeable batteries, and has a remote control with jog control dial and a 10-character back-illuminated LCD panel for title display.
